About Werkplaats Walter

Werkplaats Walter is an artist-driven workspace for jazz, improvisation and artists in Brussels, rooted in Kuregem (Anderlecht).

We are not a concert venue, a production house or a traditional cultural institution. Walter is a workspace: a place where artists are given the time, space, trust and resources to develop artistic processes beyond the pressure of production, presentation and immediate results. We believe that artistic development needs room for experimentation, doubt, slowing down, encounters and risk. That is why we create an environment in which artists can explore, collaborate, fail, start over and grow.

Werkplaats Walter is both a local haven and an international pit stop. We are rooted in Brussels and Kuregem, while also being part of an international network of artists, musicians and organisations active in improvisation and jazz. Werkplaats Walter organises concerts and residencies, has a new recording studio and rehearsal space, and provides 1,200 m² of workspace where more than two dozen artists and other creatives carry out their everyday experiments.

Werkplaats Walter is located in the green parking zone. This means paid parking from Monday to Saturday, 9:00–18:00. Finding a parking space near Walter can be difficult, so please allow enough time.

Opening hours

Werkplaats Walter is not open to the public outside concerts and events. Please check our calendar for opening hours or make an appointment. Doors generally open at 19:15 and concerts start at 20:15. Concerts end by around 22:30 at the latest.

Tickets

For concerts, we offer online advance ticket sales through Odoo's ticketing system. At the venue, payment is currently possible only in cash or — preferably — via the mobile payment app Payconiq by Bancontact. Download the app before your visit for easy mobile payment.
