We like to champion music that we feel deserves to reach a wider audience. We do so in our own venue, but also in collaboration with partners who share our enthusiasm for these artists. This concert was made possible in part thanks to our like-minded partners at De Singer in Rijkevorsel, where it will also take place.

Canadian Anna Webber is a musician close to Walter’s heart: open-minded, versatile and generous. In September 2018, she performed solo as well as with drummer Raf Vertessen’s quartet during our opening week. Since then, she has emerged as a leading composer, musician and bandleader, making waves with an astonishing variety of line-ups — from an intimate trio to a full-fledged big band — and music that bridges the gap between adventurous jazz and contemporary classical music.
She formed her Simple Trio in 2013 with pianist Matt Mitchell and John Hollenbeck. Mitchell has made a name for himself alongside the likes of Tim Berne (a guest at Walter just last year), Kris Davis and Dave Douglas. Hollenbeck, who brought his renowned Claudia Quintet to Walter in 2019, is equally virtuosic at blurring the boundaries between genres. He has composed for choirs, chamber ensembles and various orchestras. Now, the three present their latest album, simpletrio2000, at our partners at De Singer.
