Walter initiates, guides and supports the full residency trajectory. Walter provides space and technical support, the necessary budget and a commitment to fair practice and fair pay, a fresh lunch, coffee and tea. Musicians and proposals are selected through an open call. The call for 2027 residency proposals closed on 25.04.2026. A new call is expected in spring 2027.

Adventurous music needs time. Space to search, to probe. Walter provides that space. Looking for a short passage, an intense working period or a longer trajectory? We work with three types of residencies.

coproduction
Same approach and conditions as the Walter residencies, but together with the musician or a partner (think: a label, management agency or venue) who co-steers the trajectory both artistically and financially. Walter collaborates with partners such as BOZAR, KRAAK and granvat for co-production residencies. Musicians and organisations interested in working together are welcome to start a conversation.

A low-threshold option for musicians who primarily need a comfortable place to work. The hall is open, someone is there, the coffee is ready.
Not every request or proposal finds a place within the residency programme. Even so, you can – on reservation – rehearse, record or mix at Walter. Check availability and conditions under rental.
